What would you do if you had to start over from scratch?

No money…

No business…

No social media following…

No list…

No support…?

No problem.

Never had those things anyway.

But if you were starting over… or — like me — trying to reinvent yourself in the 2nd half of your life… what would you do?

Where would you even start?

Let’s break it down.

For the sake of this series, I’m going to focus heavily on business and marketing… with a splash of mindset.

After all, the point is to make a bunch of money AND keep my sanity.

Let’s start with the basics:

1. Obviously I’ll be starting a business.

Not only am I completely unemployable — I’d end up spending all day getting screamed at by HR.

2. In business, there are only 2 things you can sell: a product or a service.

I’ve always done high-ticket, high-touch services…

And I’m sure it sounds incredibly sexy when I say, “I charge 20-35k/month for my Fractional CMO services.”

…but that’s the exact thing that’s gotten me into the same situation over and over again:

Chained to the desk making other people hundreds of millions of dollars… while I slave away.

So what needs to change?

I need to switch to products.

But — I don’t currently have a “widget” to sell…

Maybe I’ll look into cat treats someday… but for now?

My goal is to “productize” my marketing services.

We have to remember as business owners we don’t get paid for how long or hard we work…

We get paid for producing a result.

And the counter-intuitive thing is that we can actually charge MORE if we can produce that result faster.

Think about it… would you rather have your air conditioning working 5 minutes from now… or 5 days from now?

Would you rather have your tooth pulled in 5 minutes… or 5 hours?

… and which one would you pay more for?

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in thinking, “I work so hard and so many hours… I deserve to be making more…”

Unfortunately… that’s just not how the world works.

So I’ll need to develop a product that can produce a marketing result — fast…

But there’s one critical piece I’ve always been missing:

3. It must be systemized.

The definition of a business is…

“a system that produces a result for an end customer in a timely and effective manner.”

Keywords being system… result… timely… and effective.

If I look at my consulting practice. Or even going back several years to my marketing agency… it was never a system.

It relied on me to do the work. To write the ads. To build the websites. To create the email campaigns. To design the strategy. All of it.

Nothing was systemized because no two clients were the same (or even similar for that matter).

Business. Product. System. Got it. So… Where Do We Start?

There are only 2 ways to build a business:

1. Create something you think is really cool… and then run around trying to convince everyone to buy it.

And this is what 99% of people do when starting a business and exactly why 99% of them fail.

It’s super hard.

Super painful.

Even with the “Tony Robbins” name behind me…

I was making 200 cold calls a day, door-knocking dozens of businesses, begging for referrals every chance I got.

I was thrown out of more places than I can count.

I was cussed at, threatened, hung up on, and told to go to hell so often my roommate at the time would offer me — what he called — a “shower beer” every morning.

I don’t even like beer…

But crying in the shower seems a lot less lame when you have a beer in your hand.

… OR — you can do it the easy way:

2. Find a group of people… ask them what they want… and give it to them.

Holy hell, is this so much better.

I wish I hadn’t been so damn stubborn because this would have made my life so much easier.

Wellp — I won’t make that mistake again.

And neither should you.

People only buy things for one reason and one reason only: they want to.

Imagine how much easier sales and marketing and business is when you just have the thing that people want.

So I started calling around.

Sending texts, emails, DMs.

Doing research to figure out WHAT businesses wanted. And I’ve got some really good answers.

Later this week, I’ll unveil the whole thing to you and show you the what/why/when/where/how of it all.

In the meantime, I need a favor:

I am going to start doing daily Q&A + updates on my YouTube channel.

And I have a handful of questions, but I need more.

What challenges do you have in your business? Your marketing? Your advertising? Your Sales?

They are going to be quick videos where I give as much value as I can, answering YOUR questions, and then I’ll share updates on this new business, strategize in public, and share the results with you.

Kinda cool, right?

But do me a favor and send in your questions so I can grab a list of them and answer as many as I can.

— Steve

P.S. Everything I’ll share is free.

The only thing I ask: if one of these updates ever helps you, send it to one person who needs to hear "it's possible" today. That's how we grow this.
